Rapiergroup are delighted to announce that Amy Oliver, one of our Project Managers, has been named in C&IT Magazine’s A-List for 2017.
The annual recognition programme by C&IT celebrates 35 of the best agency players aged under 35 that promise to be future leaders of the events industry. Senior management within the UK’s top 50 event agencies select their nominee based on their outstanding performance and contribution to their agencies over the past year.
In an exclusive interview for C&IT, Amy discussed the best event she has ever worked on, her most challenging moment, dream event and her goals before reaching 40.
Amy is a self-motivated and disciplined individual, with excellent time management and organisational skills. Best event I've worked on
I love working on Sibos, the event that I have been working on for the last 4 years at Rapiergroup. It’s a huge project and takes place in various worldwide destinations from year to year. I project manage 13 different stands/areas within the show and I thrive on seeing it all come together; from the initial design concepts to the finished products – an empty exhibition hall transformed into a space where up to 8,000 delegates attend over 4 days.

Most challenging moment
I worked on a feature in Singapore where the design incorporated over 5,000 various height bamboo stems. You would think that black bamboo would be easy to source in Asia but unfortunately not. Eventually as a team, we came up with a solution – the contractor painted the bamboo black and attached artificial leaves to each individual stem. Very time consuming but the final result was stunning!

Dream event
I love both fashion and music so an event that involved either of these interests would be amazing to work on – either London Fashion Week or a music festival.

Alternative career
I studied English Literature at university and have always enjoyed writing. I also have a passion for travel so if I wasn’t working in events, a career in travel writing would probably be my plan B.

Goals before 40
To continue working on large-scale, international events, broaden my portfolio and strive to further challenge myself.
